If you want to feel better in your body and reclaim your vitality, let me show you how to integrate simple and effective Ayurvedic principles into your life and unlock the ancient secrets for optimal health.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old philosophy originating in India that prevents disease and illness through the connection of mind, body, and spirit.
By expanding our awareness and cultivating an inner state of balance, Ayurveda unlocks an ancient approach to preventing and healing modern lifestyle-related illnesses that impact everything from digestion, inflammation, hormone disruption and metabolism.
Ayurveda is a system of health and healing that gives us so much guidance. The teachings show us HOW to eat – the food practices that will allow for better digestion and absorption. The Self Care practices – dinacharya means daily routine – teaches us simple ways to detox and be grounded for our entire day.
Oftentimes a diagnosis leads us to visit the holistic modalities, seeking help. We reach for Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Naturopathic Medicine, Chiropractic, Massage, Reiki, or others. People oftentimes wish they found Ayurveda sooner on their journey. Ayurveda has incredible tools to support detoxification, better sleep, better digestion, better weight management support, better energy, focus, and stress relief.
Ayurveda teaches that the entire natural world is created by five elements: Space, air, fire, water, and earth. These five elements give rise to three life forces, called doshas: Vata Dosha (wind and space), Pitta Dosha (fire and water) and Kapha Dosha (earth and water). Each one of us has their own special ratio of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. This is called prakruti: Our inborn constitution.
Our individual prakuti permeates every cell in our body and orchestrates movement, breathing, nerve impulses, enzymatic reactions, catabolism, anabolism, and structure. It also controls our thought processes, emotions, reactions to external stimuli and our immunity.
Ayurveda is the traditional Indian healing system that helps us balance our life forces to bring us back to our innate, natural state of health and well-being.
Modalities include: Herbal Therapies, Massage with Medicinal Oils, Detoxification and Cleansing Regimens, Dietary Guidelines, Sleep Recommendations, Meditation Practices, Seasonal Routines and Exercise Recommendations.
Why Ayurveda is Different:
You have seen the doctors. You ran the labs. You tried the recommended medications and still: You are not feeling better. A piece of the puzzle is missing. Or rather, you feel like you cannot see the picture at all. You would like to try something else. Something that feels whole and real and true. You want to find a way of healing that considers all of you: Your body, your spirit, your mind, your lifestyle. You want to participate: Learn, adjust and listen. You trust the wisdom of your body, and you want tap into that wisdom. Understand what your body is telling you. And you want the wisdom of an ancient way of healing to guide you.
Our initial consultation, whether it’s a house call in the comfort of your own home, in my office, or virtually with a cup of tea on Skype, it is a time for me to listen to you and learn about you and your health.
Together, we create a comprehensive assessment of your health: I ask you about past and current symptoms and illnesses, infections, surgeries, prescription medications, supplements and alternative treatments, and your family history of medical problems. We explore your life stressors, work conditions, habits and lifestyle choices. I examine important elements such as your vital signs, your skin, pulse, tongue, your heart and lungs. In other words, I assess your physical structure from the Ayurvedic perspective.
In the end, I determine your Ayurvedic constitution—your prakruti. Based on this assessment, I make recommendations on how we can help your body get back to its natural, balanced state of health and well-being. These recommendations may include lifestyle and diet changes, herbal therapies, other relevant holistic modalities, meditation and yoga practices, seasonal routines and exercise.
Before we say goodbye, we discuss if and when a follow-up appointment is needed.
